19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to get a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
