Each time a major awards ceremony nears, there’s always a demand to include fresh award types to honor underappreciated efforts and fill the hearts of enthusiasts who have specialized interests.
My colleague made the case advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. The same goes for strategy board titles, representing a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, I have a cast-iron argument backing this proposal is the most urgent above others. This is the request: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.
Organizing Gaming Categories
Classifying creative works isn't exact; opinions vary greatly, and typically generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that movie academies steer clear of genre categories. But it is an unavoidable compromise within the realm of video games, that demonstrate such variety it's challenging to consider them a single creative category.
For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, while allowing diverse titles to receive proper recognition, specific award classifications remain vital.
Present Award Structure
Prominent interactive entertainment events offer these classifications covering Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these award types successfully include a lot of ground, making space possible accommodating various experiences.
This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Think about these outstanding current releases, all very different: the architectural riddles in a particular game, intense tile-matching of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles of a third title. What category would fit them within current classifications? Simply put, no category fits.
Recognition Challenges
There are dozens excellent brain-teasers launched regularly without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, if they accidentally match award groups including Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging Indie races.
- An iconic brain-teaser received no recognition for anything during that awards season
- Another creative title missed out during that ceremony
- Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment that year
- Just some puzzle games managed to sneak into niche award types
Significance of Puzzle Games
Commonly they're modest productions, but the art in brain-teasers holds tremendous importance. Well-known matching games stand as the most-played games worldwide maintaining this status for many years.
The famous puzzle experience competes with famous sandbox experiences competing to become highest-selling title ever; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Puzzle games are foundational for gaming as medium, while interacting with diverse game types.
Recommendation and Reasoning
Logic titles wouldn't face this problem. You could fill multiple candidates with fascinating, diverse, deserving games annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.
And to reiterate, these include experiences without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators function at the hard edge of video game design, developing some of most fundamental forms of gaming itself. Just like cinema stunt performers, they merit acknowledgment. Don't make them wait decades.
