Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party access locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
